Oregon
Starting: Section D3 - Thielsen Creek Trail
Ending:  Section D9 - Summit Lake

The rain began around 2 am. I awoke to the sound of Hobbles frantically trying to erect his shelter in the downpour. I looked out from the dry warmth of my bivy (Cookiemonster calls it my "womb") before smiling, rolling over & going back to sleep. Only the 3rd rain in 108 days.

Had difficulty leaving my warm sleeping bag this morning. The temperature outside had plummeted & the thought of putting on a soaking backpack was too much. Back to sleep for a couple hours.

Left camp at 9 am. It was FREEZING - all my warm clothes are waiting in Eugene. I never really warmed up. Since it was even colder when I stopped hiking I just kept going all day.

Crawling back into my sleeping bag this evening, finally getting warm, was wonderful...
