Oregon
Zero Day in Santiam Pass

Zero day in Eugene. Spent most of the day preparing my mail drops for the rest of the trip. I had been using a "buy as you go" resupply strategy, purchasing my food at stores along the way. This worked well for towns with a grocery store but was difficult when my choices were limited to a convenience store candy aisle.

I prepared 6 boxes (wow, I am almost to Canada!). Each box contained Ziploc bags, 1 for each day, filled with roughly 2,800 calories of various "bars": Cliff bars, Marathon bars, Power bars, Odwalla bars, Nutrigrain bars & Nutty bars. I will supplement this with perishable foods (tortillas, cheese) purchased along the way.

My dad joked that he wants to hike the rest of the trail just so he can eat all the junk food...
