Southern California
Starting: Section G3 - Joshua Tree Spring
Ending:  Section G6 - Trail Summit

Nightmares of bears. Yogi's guidebook mentions that an unafraid bear inhabited the area we camped at last night. I was ready for combat, armed only with a trekking pole & body odor. No bear.

Long day of tired, uphill hiking. A big lunch and a nap at Chimney Creek campground helped recharge my batteries.

Pete & I decided to go all the way up to 8,000 feet and are now camped at trail summit. Enjoying a beautiful sunset illuminating the snow capped peaks to come…
