Northern California
Starting: Section N9 - Summit Lake Junction
Ending:  Section N13 - Subway Cave

Who turned out the lights? Subway Cave, a short side trip off the PCT, has a 1/3 mile self guided tour that plunges you into complete darkness. Take your headlamp. Very cool. Literally.

Hiked at a fast pace this morning & surprised myself by covering the 21 miles to Old Station by 2 pm. Found Cookiemonster gorging himself outside the store. I quickly filled & strapped on my feedbag and took my place next to him. The adjacent cafe closed this year but they still have scooped ice cream at the store. Burp.

We rested (& digested) for a couple of hours before hiking another 4 miles to the cave. Currently waiting for darkness to fall before setting up a stealth camp in the woods near the cave (Posted: No Camping).

Tomorrow we fill our water bottles before heading out into the very hot & completely waterless 30 miles of Hat Creek Rim...
