Northern California
Starting: Section Q5 - Marble Valley Guard Station
Ending:  Section R1 - Seiad Valley RV Park

That sucks. Just did a 32 miler into Seiad Valley hoping to get a burger. The restaurant/store closed 10 minutes ago & I had foolishly eaten the rest of my food on the walk in. Let's hope for a well-stocked hiker box at the adjacent RV park. The last 6.5 miles today were a brutal highway walk. My feet feel like they have been worked over with a sledgehammer.

Saw a truly heartbreaking scene this evening. I had just gotten to Highway 96 when a car passed me traveling way too fast. Moments later I heard the squeal of brakes followed by a sickening thud. This was accompanied by the pitiful last howl of a beloved family dog. The owner had been on her porch and had witnessed the accident. I continued down the road as her anguished cries filled the night air...
